As part of advocating for free and open source software, promoting the use of the linux operating system in particular and creating a platform for the open community in general, Linux Accra User Group hosted Global Open initiative Foundation, iwatch africa, and OpenStreetMap in marking the annual international open data day.The celebaration which is  mostly marked on the  the first saturday  of March, sometimes in Febuary,  was set to be marked this year on March 7th 2020 with the idea of educating the public on open data.Gobal Open Initiative Foundation and iwatch africa were the main orgnizers for the event this year hosting people from various sectors to share ideas on open data  and its impact on the world.Some of the things discussed were climate change  and tree planting by iwatch africa, street mapping  and youth mappers  by OpenStreetMap, and wiki data by the Global Open Initiative Foundaion.The program started around 9am with presentations from the various communities and ended around 4pm after training by the Global Open Initiative Foundation and OpenStreetMapp.
